Detection of In vitro Antiviral Activity: Antiviral Screening Assays

Cytotoxicity screen of compounds - We run a basic cytotoxicity assay in order to determine the optimum testing range for your compound of interest. This is done with each virus-specific cell line. Toxicity testing in multiple cell-lines is also available.

CPE-based antiviral screen - A CPE-based assay in 96-well plates will be used to test the compounds antiviral activity. A predetermined concentration range is based on the cytotoxicity assay. This assay is designed to rapidly screen a large number of compounds for their ability to disrupt killing of the cells by viruses of interest.

TCID/Plaque Assays - A virus-specific plaque-based also known as a tissue culture infectious dose (TCID) assay is performed as a secondary assay to the CPE-based 96-well plate assay. This assay is designed to demonstrate a reduction in viral output by the compound of interest.
